Green Orchid Events is a Las Vegas based wedding and event planning company founded in 2007 by Juliet Douglas. Led by Juliet, as well as Angelica McDonnell, we love building relationships with our clients and believe in creating a great team of talented professionals to work together with the same goal in mind: producing your event and creating your magical day.  We believe in  offering the highest level of personalized service with prompt communication, attention to detail, and working hard to exceed your expectations.

Juliet Douglas

Owner

It’s safe to say that I stumbled upon this career by accident. Well, kind of. Growing up, my parents were grooming me for a career in performing arts as a singer and entertainer. Somewhere along the line, I thought I should do something “practical” like get a college education in the field of hospitality. After all, isn’t that what we all do here in Las Vegas? Fast forward about five years and in 2007, I opened up Green Orchid Events!

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a concentration in Special Events and Entertainment. I’ve also obtained a Wedding Coordination and Design Certificate from the International School of Hospitality.

My previous experiences include working at Mandalay Bay Hotel as a Wedding Coordinator and in food and beverage at the Four Seasons Hotel, Lake Las Vegas Resort, Southshore Golf Club, Wynn Las Vegas in Restaurant Events, and Anthem Country Club in catering. Other experience as a lead and background singer in a show and producer in a local band has also proven useful in designing and producing weddings and events.

Other fun facts about me:
* I was offered a partial music scholarship in voice but turned it down to study hospitality.
* I’m a tea drinker and have been known to drink hot tea on a hot Las Vegas summer day
* I’m a minute younger than my twin sister and she lives next door to me.
* Although I’m a part time pescetarian, I consider myself a foodie and love trying new restaurants and can appreciate most cuisines.
* Pair chocolate and hazelnut together and I’m happy. Other than that, I don’t have a sweet tooth
* My first language was Chinese. Now, I can barely put a sentence together.
* I studied Tae Kwon Do and went up to a blue belt.
* I was an extra in Ocean’s 11 at a slot machine and made the final cut – about 30 minutes into the movie.

Angelica McDonnell

Senior Event Manager

A 2007 graduate of the Wedding Coordination & Design program at the International School of Hospitality, Angelica joined Green Orchid Events in the summer of 2008 as a wedding day coordinator and party planner. She is currently our Senior Event Manager and plans a majority of the weddings and events for Green Orchid Events.

Angelica is mildly obsessed with Hello Kitty and loves the fall season. She loves Z Gallerie and Pier One Imports and visits these stores frequently for inspiration on colors and decor. She enjoys reading books by her favorite authors Nicholas Sparks and Emily Griffin. If she had her choice, she’d probably eat Mexican food every night. Her Starbucks drink of choice is a Caramel Macchiato.

To top it all off, Angelica’s love for children is obvious as she has the patience to handle a crying 4 year old flower girl with grace.

Angelica also currently serves as the Volunteer Coordinator for Wish Upon a Wedding.
